The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), and the People's Republic of China, represented by the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen regulatory cooperation in securities and futures markets.
It forms part of a series of agreements and memoranda of understanding signed by the Sultanate of Oman during the state visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may Allah protect and preserve him, to the People's Republic of China, reflecting the depth of the partnership and mutual cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The MoU provides an opportunity to establish a regulatory environment that strengthens confidence among investors and market participants in both countries, contributing to greater opportunities for mutual investment, given the vital role of securities markets as major channels for investment flows.
It focuses on advancing regulatory and supervisory mechanisms, ensuring investor protection and promoting market integrity. It also provides a framework for technical cooperation, capacity building and benefiting from China's experience as one of the world's largest capital markets. These efforts will support Oman's ambitions to develop its capital market and diversify its financial instruments, in line with the goals of Oman Vision 2040.
This cooperation comes amid growing international activity in securities and futures markets, highlighting the increasing need for coordination among regulatory authorities to safeguard market integrity and prevent practices that violate applicable laws and regulations
