Under the auspices of HH Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat, Musandam Governorate on Monday launched the promotional campaign for the ‘Musandam Winter 2026-2027’ season, unveiling a calendar of 75 events and tourism experiences aimed at strengthening the governorate’s position as a leading winter destination.
The ceremony was attended by Sayyid Faisal bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, along with Their Highnesses, Excellencies, members of the State Council and Majlis Ash'shura, government officials, private sector representatives and media professionals.
Held under the slogan ‘Musandam: An Experience to Live’, the season features a diverse programme of tourism, cultural, sporting and entertainment activities, showcasing the governorate’s natural attractions, historical heritage and investment potential.
Sayyid Faisal bin Hamoud al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, said the new edition builds on the governorate’s efforts to position Musandam as a destination for tourism, investment and culture, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
'Musandam possesses exceptional attributes that make it one of the most distinctive winter destinations in Oman and the wider region. The beauty of the sea, the grandeur of the mountains and the richness of its authentic heritage combine to offer visitors a unique experience,' he said.
He added that the season would offer immersive experiences, including sailing through the fjords, dolphin watching, exploring mountain villages and discovering local traditions, alongside sporting, cultural and heritage activities.
Al Busaidi noted that the programme also seeks to support local communities by empowering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), promoting Omani products and traditional crafts, and creating economic opportunities for residents.
Hamad bin Ibrahim bin Mohammed al Shuhi, Official Spokesperson for Musandam Governorate and Director of the Khasab Municipal Department, said the season aims to showcase the governorate’s natural attractions and strategic tourist sites, attract investment, support SMEs and stimulate economic activity.
He said the previous season generated 342 job opportunities for local residents through their participation in organising events and festivals. It also attracted around 720,000 tourists, while approximately 133 cruise ships brought 8,088 visitors to the governorate.
Al Shuhi said the new season would introduce several events, including the Engineering Carnival and Kite Festival, while established attractions such as the Musandam Carnival and Entertainment Festival would return for their fourth editions. The Kamsar Festival and Lima Bazaar would also return for their second editions.
Meanwhile, Nasser bin Humaid al Housni, Director-General of Musandam Municipality, said around 75 events would be organised across the governorate, covering sports, entertainment, marine and mountain adventures, and festivals.
He said the programme was designed to showcase the governorate’s tourism and natural assets, adding that the strong public response to previous festivals had encouraged organisers to expand their presence this season.
The first festival will be held in the Wilayat of Dibba in December, followed by similar events in the governorate’s three other wilayats.
The programme also includes the Strait of Hormuz Festival, Musandam Cultural Days, National Day celebrations, the Bukha Lights Festival, community sports competitions, equestrian events and motorsport activities.
Visitors can also enjoy a range of adventure experiences, including ziplining, diving, mountain hiking, climbing, kayaking, open-water swimming, sea fishing and camping.
The season is expected to enhance Musandam’s tourism appeal, support local businesses and create further opportunities for sustainable economic development across the governorate.
