MUSCAT, OCT 31
Mubarak al Kharousi produced a strong final game to top the singles standings at the Omantel Bowling Championship 2026, while his club Seeb also finished first in the team competition at the Seeb Bowling Centre.
Organised by the Oman Bowling Committee with Omantel’s sponsorship, the championship brought together 43 male and female bowlers for the singles event. Players competed across two squads, with Squad A taking to the lanes in the morning and Squad B playing in the afternoon. Each bowler contested four games, with their combined scores determining the overall standings.
Al Kharousi finished with 777 pins and an average of 194.25, securing a 47-pin advantage over his nearest challenger. After opening with games of 144, 206 and 182, he delivered a decisive 245 in his fourth game to establish a total that remained unbeaten.
He led Squad A ahead of Khalid al Maliki of Al Musannah, who scored 714, and Qurayat’s Luay al Ghafri, who finished with 696.
The afternoon squad produced a much tighter contest. Salalah’s Hassan al Kharousi edged Muscat’s Juma al Habsi by a single pin, finishing with 730 against 729. Masirah’s Sultan al Jabri followed closely on 727, placing the trio second, third and fourth respectively in the combined standings.
Salalah’s Khalid Bait Ali recorded the highest individual game of the singles competition, rolling 246 in his second outing to surpass Mubarak al Kharousi’s closing effort by one pin. The overall average across the singles event was 157.4.

SEEB STEADY IN TEAM SECTION
In the team competition, Seeb maintained a steady scoring rate across six games to lead with 1,044 pins. Their fifth-game score of 218 was the highest recorded by any team.
Bausher finished second with 1,007, while Saham secured third place on 946 following a strong final game. Muscat took fourth with 934, narrowly ahead of Al Nasr on 932. Al Mudhaibi finished sixth with 846, followed by Salalah with 830 and Qurayat with 805.
The team event used the Baker format, in which five bowlers contribute to a shared game, each playing two frames.
Al Nasr bowler Ali bin Said al Mujaini said the championship offered valuable opportunities to improve through regular competition, particularly against established national team players.
“These tournaments are important because they give us the chance to compete against experienced national team bowlers. The more we participate and face different players, the more experience we gain,” he said.
Al Mujaini also highlighted the championship’s two-day structure, with four games per player in the singles event and prizes extending to the top 20, followed by six games in the team competition.
“The Baker format is different because all five players contribute to the same game, with each player bowling two frames,” he explained. “As for my own chances, I will focus on doing my best and hopefully achieve a good result.”
