Muscat: Oman's Public Prosecution has reiterated key provisions of the Law on Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, reminding citizens and residents of penalties, rehabilitation requirements, monitoring measures and deportation rules.
In a social media post, the authority highlighted provisions under the law issued through Royal Decree No. 67/2026.
Under the legislation, individuals who refuse to complete their prescribed treatment upon seeking admission to a rehabilitation facility for the third time face imprisonment ranging from three months to two years and fines between 100 RO and 1,000 RO.
The law also allows courts to impose additional measures on convicted Omani nationals, including periodic drug testing, electronic monitoring and community service.
Foreign nationals are subject to permanent deportation under the circumstances specified in Article 61, except for violations punishable under Article 56.
Another provision establishes periodic drug testing for drug users for two years following the completion of their rehabilitation placement or the execution of their sentence.
