Muscat: Temperatures have dropped significantly across Oman's mountainous regions, with Jabal Shams recording a low of 6.6°C, the lowest temperature registered in the Sultanate during the past 24 hours.
According to data released by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Thursday, October 29, Saiq recorded 13.4°C, highlighting the cooler conditions prevailing in the country's high-altitude areas.
Other locations also reported relatively low temperatures, including Haima at 18.9°C, Yanqul at 19.4°C, Muqshin and Thumrait at 19.8°C each, and Nizwa at 20.7°C.
Meanwhile, daytime temperatures remained considerably higher in other parts of the country, with Hamra Al Drooa recording the highest temperature of 38.2°C, followed by Muqshin at 38.1°C.
The CAA has also forecast the development of convective clouds and scattered thunderstorms over parts of the Al Hajar Mountains and surrounding areas, with rainfall potentially extending towards coastal regions.
The thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong downdraft winds and hail, with the possibility of flowing wadis and streams.
Residents and motorists are advised to exercise caution, particularly in mountainous areas and near wadis, as unsettled weather conditions continue.
