Alara Resources’ Al Wash-hi Majaza copper concentrator in the Sultanate of Oman processed 285,141 tonnes of ore in the September quarter, exceeding its target by 14 per cent, as the company advanced exploration to support its mining operations.
The Australian-listed company said in its quarterly activities report, released on October 27, that concentrate production reached 11,028 wet metric tonnes during the three months ended September 30, while mine ore production totalled 333,647 tonnes.
The operation is owned by Al Hadeetha Resources LLC (AHRL), in which Alara holds 51 per cent. Al Hadeetha Investment Services owns 30 per cent and Al Tasnim Infrastructure holds 19 per cent.
Ore processed exceeded the quarterly target of 249,000 tonnes. Improved mining selectivity, stockpile management and blending practices helped maintain consistent feed to the concentrator, while technical studies supported mine planning.
Mining met quarterly targets, with further pit expansion planned to improve access to ore and support future extraction. Updated geotechnical and groundwater studies have been incorporated into pit optimisation and mine design.
Stronger operating performance also supported record quarterly copper sales of approximately 2,952 tonnes, up 42 per cent from the previous record of 2,077 tonnes in the June quarter.
“The record copper sales reflected improved plant performance, favourable ore characteristics, and higher production throughput,” Alara said.
AHRL dispatched 15 parcels through Suhar Port, totalling approximately 15,199 wet metric tonnes of concentrate containing copper and about 1,247 ounces of gold.
However, geopolitical tensions continued to disrupt shipping through container shortages, uncertain schedules and interrupted port connections.
While production, storage capacity and dispatch readiness remained stable, these external constraints caused shipment delays that marginally extended the timing of concentrate revenue inflows during the quarter,” the company said.
Beyond the producing operation, Alara advanced exploration at Block 22B, a 1,448-square-kilometre concession approximately 160 kilometres southeast of Muscat. The concession is held by Al Hadeetha Mining LLC, in which Alara owns 27.5 per cent.
An airborne electromagnetic and magnetic survey completed in July collected approximately 6,132 line-kilometres of data. Interpretation is under way, with final results expected during the October-December quarter to help rank prospects and guide exploration.
Remote sensing identified 12 prospect areas, while geological mapping and rock-chip sampling covered five priority areas. Fieldwork identified surface copper indicators and geological features requiring further investigation.
“Further work, including geochemical analysis and drilling, is required to assess their significance,” Alara said.
Insufficient exploration has been completed to estimate a mineral resource at these prospects.
At the Daris copper-gold project, approximately 150 kilometres west of Muscat, economically mineable ore could potentially supply the Al Wash-hi Majaza concentrator, supporting Alara’s strategy of developing satellite deposits around existing processing infrastructure.
The Daris East mining licence remains pending. Its measured and indicated resource totals 240,024 tonnes grading 2.37 per cent copper, but proximity to land allocated to local communities has prompted an objection from the Ministry of Housing.
Negotiations and community consultations continued. Further exploration and development at Daris 3A5, which received a mining licence in August 2025, await approval of the Daris East licence.
At Block 8, where Alara holds 10 per cent, exploration remained paused because regional conditions restricted travel by partner Power Metal Resources’ team.
Alara raised approximately A$3.85 million before costs through an August rights issue to support exploration and corporate expenditure. It anticipates raising approximately A$6 million through a share placement during its 2027 financial year.
Near-term priorities include maintaining production, completing scheduled plant maintenance, advancing mine-life extension studies and continuing concentrate shipments through Suhar Port.
