MUSCAT, OCT 26
The Oman Youth Indoor Handball League for the 2026/2027 season will enter its decisive stage on November 14, when four clubs begin the second round with a place in the final at stake. Muscat, Seeb, Oman Club and Nizwa emerged from the opening round as the leading teams in their respective groups and will now look to turn their consistent performances into a title challenge.
The Oman Handball Federation’s Competitions Committee has confirmed two second-round match-ups, with Muscat taking on Seeb and Oman Club facing Nizwa. The fixtures bring together the top two teams from each group and are expected to provide a competitive test as the clubs pursue a place in the championship final.
Muscat finished top of Group A with 10 points, two ahead of Nizwa, who secured second place with eight points. In Group B, Oman Club delivered the strongest performance of the opening stage, collecting the maximum 10 points to finish first. Seeb followed in second place with eight points to complete the four-team line-up.
The standings underline the competitive balance among the qualifiers, with only two points separating the group runners-up from the leaders. The next stage will place greater emphasis on consistency, defensive organisation and the ability to manage pressure across the two-match format.
Under the competition regulations, each pairing will be decided over two matches. If the teams remain level on points and goal difference, the winner will be determined directly through penalty throws, with no extra time played. The two winners will advance to the final to compete for the league title, while the losing sides will meet to determine third and fourth place.
The final round of group matches produced several notable results. Nizwa defeated Masirah 48-18, while Muscat beat Nizwa 34-22 in a postponed fixture. Al Amerat overcame Ibri 31-21, Seeb defeated Al Rustaq 31-9, and Al Khabourah recorded a 31-22 victory over Saham. Oman Club also secured a 28-12 win against Majees, while Ibri defeated Masirah 28-14 in the other postponed match.
In the final Group A standings, Al Amerat finished third with six points, followed by Ibri on four, Al Ittihad on two and Masirah without a point. In Group B, Al Khabourah took third place with six points, Majees finished fourth with four, Al Rustaq placed fifth with two, and Saham ended the campaign without a point.
With the group stage complete, attention now turns to the race for the final. The four qualifiers will need to maintain their momentum and minimise costly mistakes as they compete for the opportunity to lift the 2026/2027 youth indoor handball title.
