IndiGo, Air India to shift Muscat operations to Navi Mumbai Airport

Two of India's largest airlines, IndiGo and Air India, have announced plans to shift international services from Navi Mumbai international Airport, which will include all existing operations to Muscat from early 2027.

Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), the operator of both airports in Mumbai, said that they are in the final stages of operationalising a plan for IndiGo to commence international operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) from February 2027.

IndiGo

IndiGo will transfer 12 daily international departures from the current Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) to NMIA, including all the present operations to Bahrain, Riyadh, Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, Kuwait, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Muscat, Dhaka and Jakarta.

IndiGo will transition the required domestic connectivity from CSMIA to NMIA to support these services, the Adani Group said in a statement.

Air India and Air India Express

Air India Group will commence a phased transition of select domestic and West Asia services to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA).

Air India Express will operate four daily domestic flights from December 2026. Its existing services to Oman will operate from January 2027.

Air India Group will transition Air India Express services to Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Doha, Muscat and Sharjah to NMIA, with the process expected to be completed by the IATA Northern Summer 2027 season.

The transition is a result of continued collaborative engagement with the airport operator and is aligned with the wider airport transition program for both Indian and international airlines and will support the long-awaited redevelopment of CSMIA Terminal 1. The phased move also supports the development of Mumbai's dual-airport system, the Adani Groups said.

IndiGo said it will announce final dates for the transition of services to NMIA and the introduction of new services to CSMIA after completion of final project coordination and relevant operating approvals are secured.

Navi Mumbai airport

Navi Mumbai International Airport serves as the second major airport for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in India alongside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM). It officially commenced commercial passenger flights on December 25, 2025.
