Omani youth account for 52% of total youth population

Muscat: Oman will mark Omani Youth Day on Monday, October 26, with more than one million people aged between 18 and 29, highlighting the importance of young people in the Sultanate’s development and their role in achieving Oman Vision 2040.

A ceremony will be held at the Youth Centre in Muscat under the auspices of Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, Minister of State and Governor of Muscat. The programme will include a youth address, a visual presentation, a tour of the centre and the signing of a funding agreement for its main branch in Muscat Governorate, alongside other agreements and a recognition ceremony.

Figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) show that Oman had 1,038,715 people aged between 18 and 29 in 2025. Omani youth accounted for 52 per cent of the total, with males making up 51 per cent of the Omani youth population. More than a third of young Omanis lived in Muscat and North al Batinah governorates.

The number of Omani youth stood at 538,491 in 2025 and is projected to reach 914,609 by 2040, underlining the importance of developing their skills and expanding opportunities for their participation in the national economy and society.

The Youth Centre has been working to support this goal through training, skills development and interactive spaces that encourage innovation and help young people turn ideas into projects and initiatives.
