An international mining partnership exploring a large mineral concession in Oman has identified 12 prospective copper-gold areas, marking encouraging progress in efforts to unlock the Sultanate’s mineral resources.
India-based South West Pinnacle Exploration Limited (SWPE) announced the preliminary findings on October 14, following exploration activities undertaken by its joint venture company, Al Hadeetha Mining LLC (AHML), across the 1,400 sq km Block 22B concession in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate.
The findings, disclosed in a regulatory filing to Indian stock exchanges, include promising copper indications from preliminary rock samples, with the highest reported concentration reaching 2.27 per cent copper. Further investigations will be necessary to establish the commercial potential of these occurrences.
The partnership has also completed an extensive airborne survey covering approximately 1,400 sq km, involving 6,132 kilometres of survey flights. The exercise is intended to help identify potentially mineral-rich areas for more detailed ground investigations.
According to SWPE, the 12 prospective areas, identified across Block 22B and an adjoining licence area, will undergo further geological mapping and sampling. Initial field verification has been completed in a designated corridor, with similar work planned elsewhere before the next exploration phase.
The company cautioned that the prospects have not yet been ranked, indicating that the findings remain preliminary rather than evidence of commercially recoverable deposits.
The Block 22B concession was awarded under an agreement signed in January 2025 and subsequently ratified by Royal Decree in March 2025.
South West Pinnacle, headquartered in Gurugram, India, is a publicly listed mineral exploration and mining services company whose shares trade on both the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE. Its activities span coal and non-coal mineral exploration, drilling and related mining services.
The Oman venture brings together SWPE, Alara Oman Operations Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Australia's Alara Resources Limited, and two Omani partners, Al Tasnim Mining LLC and Al Hadeeda Investment Services LLC.
According to the joint venture, the latest results represent an important step towards identifying potential copper-gold deposits at a time of strong international interest in copper, driven partly by expanding electricity networks and clean energy technologies.
The findings add to encouraging developments in Oman's copper industry, including commercial production at the Al Wash-hi Majaza copper-gold mine in Al Sharqiyah North and progress on Minerals Development Oman's Mazoon Copper Project in Al Dhahirah Governorate.
Together, these initiatives strengthen prospects for expanding domestic copper production, attracting international mining investment and supporting Oman's economic diversification ambitions.
