MUSCAT: The third round of the second stage of the 2026-27 Women’s Futsal League takes place on Friday with two matches at the sub-hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
Qurayat will face Masirah at 4 pm in a meeting between two teams seeking back-to-back victories, before Al Amerat take on Al Shabab at 7 pm. Al Bashayer will sit out of the round.
The opening match is expected to be the highlight of the day, with both Qurayat and Masirah heading into the contest on the back of convincing wins.
Qurayat made a strong start to the second stage by defeating Al Bashayer 4-1 in their first match, having received a rest day in the opening round. The result immediately placed them among the early contenders and they will now look to maintain that momentum against another direct rival.
Masirah, meanwhile, recovered from their opening defeat to Al Amerat with an emphatic 8-1 victory over Al Shabab. The performance restored their confidence and demonstrated the attacking strength that helped them top their group during the first stage.
CLOSE RACE
With several clubs currently level on points, victory for either side would provide an important boost and strengthen their position as the competition begins to take shape.
In the evening fixture, Al Amerat will aim to build on their winning start when they meet an Al Shabab side still searching for their first points.
Al Amerat opened their second-stage campaign with victory over Masirah before sitting out the second round. They return to action seeking another positive result that would keep them firmly in the title race.
Al Shabab face a different challenge after defeats by Al Bashayer and Masirah in their opening two matches. The team will be looking for a stronger defensive display and greater effectiveness in front of goal as they attempt to regain confidence and improve their position in the standings.
Al Bashayer, who began with victory over Al Shabab before losing 4-1 to Qurayat, will have a rest day before returning in the next round.
The second stage features five clubs competing in a double round-robin format, with each team facing the other four twice. The club finishing with the highest points tally will be crowned the 2026-27 Women’s Futsal League champions.
