Qusai al Rawahi and Taha al Harrasi finished fourth in their respective 100 metres events as Oman’s athletes continued their campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games on Tuesday.
Saif al Muqbali was also placed fourth in his 100 metres heat, while Oman’s throwers recorded fifth, sixth and seventh-place finishes during a demanding day of competition.
Al Rawahi clocked 12.32 seconds in the men’s T13 100 metres, while Al Harrasi completed the T36 race in 12.80 seconds. Al Muqbali recorded 11.59 seconds to finish fourth in his men’s T46 qualifying heat.
In the field events, Muhanna Awlad Thani was placed fifth in the men’s F33 shot put with a best effort of 7.74 metres.
Fawzi al Hubaishi finished sixth in the F54 javelin with a throw of 18.56 metres, while Mutasim al Saadi took seventh in the F53 category with 17.70 metres.
The results leave Oman looking to the remaining programme for further opportunities, with Al Hubaishi already assured of an appearance in Thursday’s men’s F54/55 shot put final.
The Games, which bring together athletes from 45 National Paralympic Committees, continue until October 24.
Wednesday’s programme offers another busy day for the Omani delegation. Al Rawahi returns for the T13 long jump final, while Rawan al Hasani contests the women’s wheelchair 100 metres.
Iman al Shamsi will compete in the women’s F34 shot put, and Al Saadi will switch from javelin to the men’s F53 shot put. Mohammed al Qasmi and Mohammed al Mashaykhi will also begin their shot put campaigns in the F32 category.
Their appearances give Oman further opportunities across both track and field as the squad seeks to build on its opening performances.
Handcyclist Sami al Sulaimi begins his campaign on Wednesday in the individual time trial before returning for the men’s H4-5 road race on Thursday, October 22.
His preparation included specialist training on climbs and descents, alongside work on endurance and physical conditioning to meet the demands of international road competition.
Oman’s participation follows a preparation programme organised by the Oman Paralympic Committee in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth through its promising athletes programme.
The athletics squad trained in Poland and Thailand, supported by domestic sessions at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher. The camps focused on physical readiness, technical development and preparing athletes for continental competition.
With several events still to come, the Omani delegation will look to improve its results while gaining experience against Asia’s leading para athletes.
