MUSCAT, OCT 20
Qurayat and Masirah secured victories in the second round of the second stage of the 2026-27 Women’s Futsal League, with the two matches producing a combined 14 goals.
Qurayat marked their first appearance in the decisive phase with a 4-1 victory over Al Bashayer, while Masirah bounced back from their opening defeat by recording an emphatic 8-1 win over Al Shabab.
Qurayat entered the second stage after sitting out the opening round and made an immediate impact by collecting all three points against an Al Bashayer side that had begun its campaign strongly.
Al Bashayer went into the match after scoring nine goals against Al Shabab in the opening round, but Qurayat halted their momentum with a composed performance to make a positive start to their title challenge.
The result moved Qurayat into the group of four clubs currently level on three points, while Al Bashayer suffered their first defeat of the second stage. With the five qualifiers competing in a single group, every point gained against a direct rival could prove important in determining the final standings.
MASIRAH SINK AL SHABAB
In the second match, Masirah responded strongly to their opening-round loss against Al Amerat by overcoming Al Shabab 8-1.
The victory gave Masirah their first three points of the second stage and restored their confidence after a difficult start. Their attacking display also strengthened their position in what is developing into a closely contested race.
Al Shabab, meanwhile, remain without a point after two matches. They have conceded 17 goals and scored only once, leaving the team with work to do defensively ahead of the coming rounds.
Following the second round, Qurayat, Masirah, Al Amerat and Al Bashayer are all level on three points. Qurayat and Al Amerat have each played one match, while Masirah and Al Bashayer have completed two fixtures. Al Amerat had a rest day in the latest round.
The congested points table leaves the title race open, with the coming matches expected to provide a clearer picture of the leading contenders. Official positions will also depend on the competition’s tie-breaking criteria should teams finish level on points.
The second stage is being played in a double round-robin format, with each of the five clubs facing the others twice. The team finishing with the highest points tally will be crowned league champions.
While four clubs will look to build on their early victories, Al Shabab will aim to secure their first positive result and improve their position as the competition progresses.
