The Chinese Film Week in Oman will be held from October 21 to 24 at VOX Cinemas, Mall of Oman, in Muscat, with an opening event on October 21.
Jointly organised by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Oman, the Oman Film Society and the China Film Administration, the event aims to promote cultural exchange and mutual learning between the two countries. This year’s theme is “Stories Across Borders”. The programme features seven Chinese films: A Tapestry of a Legendary Land, Crossing, B for Busy, The Wandering Earth 2, I Am What I Am 2, Dear You and The Shadow’s Edge. Their genres range from dance drama, war and history to urban romance, science fiction, animation, family drama and action suspense, showcasing contemporary Chinese cinema.
Five titles — A Tapestry of a Legendary Land, Crossing, B for Busy, I Am What I Am 2 and Dear You — will be screened in Oman for the first time. The Wandering Earth 2 and The Shadow’s Edge, previously released in the country, return for special screenings during the film week.
The event will showcase China’s cultural heritage and shared human experiences through film. Organisers hope the screenings will strengthen understanding between Chinese and Omani audiences and deepen cultural and artistic ties between the two countries.
Film fans and anyone interested in Chinese culture are invited to attend the four-day event. Screening schedules and ticket information are available through the social media accounts of the Chinese Embassy in Oman and the Oman Film Society.
