MAQSHIN: The Ministry of Information opened a radio transmission station in the Wilayat of Maqshin in Dhofar Governorate on Sunday, extending Oman Radio coverage to areas along the vital road linking the Governorates of Al Wusta and Dhofar.
The station broadcasts the Holy Quran Channel on 96.7 MHz, the General Programme on 103.9 MHz, the Youth Programme on 101.3 MHz and the English Programme on 92.8 MHz.
Dr Mohammed bin Said al Sha'ashai, Director-General of Information in Dhofar Governorate, said the station was part of the ministry's efforts to expand radio coverage and improve the technical efficiency of the broadcasting system, allowing listeners to benefit from the content of the General, Youth, Holy Quran and Oman FM English channels.
Eng Ali bin Ahmed al Kathiri, Head of the Transmission Section at the directorate's Engineering Department and project manager, said the project included technical tests and preparations to make the equipment ready for broadcasting. Dhofar now has 17 digital terrestrial television (DVB-T2) stations, nine FM radio transmission stations and one medium wave (AM) station, he added. — ONA
