MUSCAT: Satellite imagery and weather analyses of the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre (NMHEWC) have shown the presence of a tropical depression presently located southwest of the Arabian Sea at 59.0°E longitude and 7.7°N latitude. Wind speed around the centre of the weather system is estimated at 17-27 knots (31-50 km/h).
The NMHEWC forecast indicates that the tropical depression will move westward and northwestward towards the Horn of Africa with no direct impacts on the Sultanate of Oman over the next five days. However, there is a chance of high and medium-level cloud formation which may lead to scattered rainfall over parts of the Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates starting Wednesday.
The NMHEWC is closely monitoring the weather condition around the clock.
The Civil Aviation Authority urges the public to follow its weather bulletins and reports. — ONA
