MUSCAT: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism on Tuesday launched 14 electronic services that allow beneficiaries to complete transactions without visiting its headquarters, alongside 'Itqan', an internal digital platform designed to improve institutional performance. The services cover four areas: adventure tourism, tourism establishments, fine arts groups and caves.
'Itqan' links the ministry's strategic plans to project execution, improves data accuracy and gives senior leadership a real-time overview of performance, supporting decision-making, the early detection of challenges and the monitoring of progress towards objectives. It provides project managers with tools to plan projects, track execution and manage risks, and gives employees clarity over their tasks and how they contribute to the ministry's goals.
Asmaa bint Abdullah al Sinani, Director of Digital Transformation at the ministry, said the platform and the new services were part of the ministry's efforts to advance institutional performance and improve the experience of beneficiaries. The platform enables the ministry to link strategic plans with project implementation and track their performance, providing accurate and up-to-date data to support decisions, while the e-services allow transactions to be completed without a visit to the ministry, she said.
Through these digital solutions, the ministry seeks to strengthen integration among its departments, establish a culture of transparency and institutional work, and enable employees to carry out their duties efficiently, contributing to its goals and making its services more accessible, she added.
The launch is part of the ministry's wider digital transformation efforts to raise the efficiency of internal operations and simplify procedures for beneficiaries. — ONA
