MUSCAT: The Royal Hospital’s National Heart Centre has successfully performed its first complex cardiac catheterisation procedure using the Impella CP with Smart-Assist device. Dr Adil al Jabri, Head of the Cardiac Catheterization Department at the National Heart Centre, said that the Impella CP with Smart-Assist device represents one of the latest advanced global medical innovations. Dr Adil pointed out that recent studies have affirmed the technology's efficiency in supporting blood circulation and improving survival rates for this segment of patients, as it boosts the postential for advanced therapeutic intervention in cases of cardiogenic shock.
Dr Najib bin Zahran al Rawahi, Director of the National Heart Centre, told the Oman News Agency (ONA) that the introduction of this technology into the treatment system marks a significant milestone in the development of cardiac services and reflects the keenness of the medical and technical teams to keep pace with the latest global medical practices and technologies.
