MUSCAT: His Highness Sayyid Ali bin Ghalib al Said claimed first place in the 100km endurance race in Buch, Germany, riding his horse 'Attila', as he stepped up preparations for the World Endurance Championship in Abu Dhabi on December 19.
The race, held on Saturday under the regulations of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI), was contested over four stages of 30km, 20km, 30km and 20km.
Riders faced challenging weather conditions, with extremely low temperatures and heavy rain during the third stage, demanding careful pace management and close attention to the horses’ fitness.
Sayyid Ali described the victory as particularly meaningful given the difficult conditions and its importance ahead of the world championship, which will be held over 160km at Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi.
He credited the Al Said Stables team for its support, highlighting the importance of teamwork, horse preparation and maintaining fitness throughout the race.
The victory provides a timely boost as Al Said continues his preparations for the global event, aiming to represent Oman with distinction.
