Oman and Nepal discuss enhancing bilateral ties

KATHMANDU: During the second session of political consultations held in the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu, the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Nepal discussed existing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and prospects for enhancing cooperation across several fields.
The Omani side was headed by Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthi, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, while the Nepalese side was led by Amrit Bahadur Rai, Foreign Secretary of Nepal.
The consultations addressed opportunities for cooperation in investment, education, cultural exchange, agricultural products, fertilisers, and air transport, contributing to the boost of trade and investment exchange and the expansion of joint economic cooperation. They also discussed several consular matters and bilateral agreements, alongside exchanging views on regional developments.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Issa bin Saleh al Shibani, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of India; Ambassador Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammad al Hosni, Head of the Asia and Pacific Department at the Foreign Ministry; and a number of officials from both sides.
On the sidelines of the consultations, Shaikh Al Harthi discussed fields of bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries during his meetings with Nepal's Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environment, as well as the Minister of Youth, Labor, and Employment. — ONA
