MUSCAT, OCT 7
Seeb Club are gearing up for the 38th Arab Club Basketball Championship, which will take place in Beirut, Lebanon, from October 9 to 20, featuring a strong field of leading clubs from across the region.
The Omani side have been drawn in Group A alongside Lebanon’s Sagesse SC and Central Club, Syria’s Al Ahli Aleppo, Bahrain’s Manama Club and Qatar’s Al Rayyan.
Seeb began preparations on September 1 with a gradual training programme. The opening phase focused on rebuilding fitness and improving the players’ physical readiness before attention shifted to technical skills, tactical organisation, defensive and attacking systems and transitions.
The final stage of preparation centred on implementing the coaching staff’s plans, improving cohesion and preparing the players to face the different tactical approaches they are expected to encounter during the championship.
The team’s preparations were affected by the delayed arrival of the head coach, with assistant coach Muammar bin Najem al Rasbi overseeing training for a month. The programme entered a more specialised phase following the completion of the technical staff.
Despite the relatively short preparation period and the strength of the opposition, Seeb’s coaching staff have continued working to raise the team’s overall level and ensure the players enter the competition in the best possible condition.
Group A is considered among the championship’s toughest, featuring clubs with considerable experience and strong technical capabilities. However, Seeb will approach each match separately as they seek to deliver a performance that reflects the development of Omani basketball.
The tournament will also offer the players valuable exposure against teams from different basketball schools, while helping them improve technically, tactically and mentally.
OPENER AGAINST AL AHLI
Seeb will open their campaign against Syria’s Al Ahli Aleppo on Saturday, October 10, at 4.30 pm Oman time. They will then face Lebanon’s Al Markaziya on Sunday at 7.30 pm.
Their third match will be against Qatar’s Al Rayyan on Tuesday, October 13, at 5 pm, before taking on Bahrain’s Manama on Thursday, October 15, at 7.30 pm. Seeb will conclude their group-stage campaign against Lebanon’s Sagesse on Friday, October 16, at 10 pm.
The delegation is headed by Juma al Muharrami, while Samir al Busaidi serves as team manager. The technical staff is led by head coach Musallam Haddad, assisted by Maher al Amri and Muammar al Rasbi.
Suhail al Busaidi is part of the administrative staff, while Ali bin Badr al Jabri serves as the team therapist and Mansour bin Mubarak al Salti is responsible for media duties.
Seeb’s squad comprises Mazin al Hadidi, Marwan al Hadidi, Noah al Amri, Abdulrahman al Shueibi, Ayman al Muharrami, Rashid al Zuhaibi, Ahmed al Sinani, Abdulrahman al Omari, Al Waqqas al Hinai, Azzan al Ajmi, Azd al Hilali, Markus Samir Letscher Giles and William Andre Stanford.
