MUSCAT: Seven Omani space technology start-ups that graduated from the country’s first national space accelerator are forecast to generate combined annual revenue of around RO 2.5 million and create about 40 jobs by 2029.
Ghayadah al Jabri, of Ankaa Space & Technologies, the programme’s executing partner, said companies that completed the Oman Space Accelerator Programme (OSAP) had already attracted more than RO 90,000 in investment.
Running the programme annually could lift projected annual revenue to RO 4 million and employment to 70 jobs by 2029, she said. Introducing three proposed support measures could increase those figures to RO 5 million and more than 90 jobs, doubling the revenue forecast for the first cohort alone.
The forecasts, drawn from an OSAP impact report, discount revenue projections and apply a 65 per cent attrition rate.
OSAP is owned by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology through the National Space Programme. Ankaa manages the programme, coordinates training and engages stakeholders, while UK-based Exotopic is its design and delivery partner.
The accelerator aims to turn space technology ideas into Omani companies capable of attracting investment, in line with Oman Vision 2040 and the National Space Policy.
Al Jabri said the programme received 34 applications through the Makeen platform. Fifteen were shortlisted, 10 were selected for the first cohort and seven graduated in January 2026.
More than 40 per cent of applications focused on artificial intelligence and data analytics or Earth observation. Half came from entrepreneurs and academic teams, with many projects still at the concept stage.
