RIYADH: The Sultanate of Oman is taking part in the second edition of the International Social Responsibility Forum hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Riyadh. The 2-day forum, which began today, takes the theme 'From Commitment to Impact.' Oman’s delegation at the forum is led by Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.
The forum features international experiences and best practices in social responsibility, discusses shared challenges and ways to enhance their developmental impact and elaborates on the role of social responsibility in supporting sustainability and fostering partnerships among government, private and non-profit sectors.
In particular, the sessions of the forum underscore the role of social responsibility, as a global measure, in empowering education and development, developing effective cross-sector partnerships, accelerating the growth of sustainable businesses and making optimum use of digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) to maximise benefits to humanity across the planet.
Dr Laila participated in a ministerial session on the promotion of social responsibility on a global scale. During the session, she highlighted the continuous evolution of social responsibility in the Sultanate of Oman—both in terms of awareness and practice—driven by the growing roles of the public and private sectors in supporting initiatives and enhancing their impact.
During the meeting, Dr Laila laid emphasis on the importance of fostering integration and partnership across sectors and aligning initiatives with national priorities. She also underscored the need to institutionalise the concept of social responsibility, enhance the sustainability of initiatives and measure their impact within the concept of lending support and encouraging companies to adopt measures that are conducive to sustainable practices and national progress. — ONA
