Holy Quran competition qualifiers begin in Al Dhahirah

 

IBRI: The preliminary qualifiers for the 34th edition of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition, organised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court, began in Ibri, Al Dhahirah Governorate.
The competition is being held this year across 28 centres distributed throughout the various wilayats of Oman, following the addition of two new centres this year: the Al Jabal Al Akhdhar Centre and the Dima W'attayeen Centre.
Yousuf bin Mohammed al Balushi, Deputy Chairman of the Preliminary and Final Qualifiers Committees for the competition, stated that the number of contestants at this station reached 141 male and female memorisers of the Holy Quran across the various levels of the competition. This is out of the total number of participants across Oman, which reached 2,214 male and female participants competing in seven levels.
These levels are: the first level for memorising the entire Holy Quran; the second level for memorising 24 consecutive parts; the third level for memorising 18 consecutive parts; the fourth level for memorising 12 consecutive parts, provided the contestant was born in 2001 or later; the fifth level for memorising 6 consecutive parts, provided the contestant was born in 2012 or later; the sixth level for memorising 4 consecutive parts, provided the contestant was born in 2016 or later; and the seventh level for memorising two consecutive parts, provided the contestant was born in 2019 or later.
He clarified that the competition aims to urge youth of both genders to memorise the Holy Quran, master its recitation and Tajweed, and read it correctly in accordance with its methodology and the guidance of its teachings.
