MUSCAT: The Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) has launched its Art and Culture Season, opening a programme of concerts, theatrical performances and art exhibitions designed to broaden the centre’s cultural and entertainment offering.
The season opened with a concert by artist Rami Sabry and will feature performances by prominent Arab artists, including Saber Rebai, Tamer Ashour and Elissa.
The programme will also include the return of the 'Muscat Art' exhibition, bringing together artists, creators and the public, as well as the Kuwaiti play 'Engineer of Public Taste' and a range of other live performances and events to be announced in the coming weeks.
The season forms part of OCEC’s efforts to diversify its events calendar and provide cultural and entertainment experiences for audiences in Oman and visitors from abroad, while contributing to Muscat’s appeal as a tourism and events destination.
Engineer Saeed bin Salim Al Shanfari, CEO of OCEC, said artistic, cultural and entertainment events are an important component of the business tourism and events economy, with their economic impact extending beyond the centre to hotels, restaurants, transport, retail and other sectors.

He said the Art and Culture Season aims to provide quality experiences for the public while strengthening Muscat and Oman’s position as a destination combining business, culture and entertainment.
Al Shanfari noted that leisure tourism complements business tourism, with concerts, cultural events and live performances helping attract visitors and encouraging spending on accommodation, transportation, dining, shopping and other tourism experiences.
He added that major events can further enrich visitors’ experiences by connecting event attendance with the wider attractions and activities available in Oman, strengthening links between the events, tourism, hospitality, culture and entertainment sectors.
OCEC works with institutions and organisations across these sectors to attract and organise a diverse range of events throughout the year, supporting Muscat’s position on the regional and international events map.
The Art and Culture Season reflects this approach through a programme spanning music, visual arts, theatre and live entertainment, with further cultural and artistic events expected to be announced. - ONA
