MUSCAT: Oman Club and Al Amerat made winning starts to their 2026/2027 Youth Indoor Handball League campaigns, securing victories over Saham and Al Ittihad respectively to collect their first two points of the competition.
Playing at the Oman Club sports hall, the hosts produced a dominant performance against Saham, establishing control from the opening minutes through disciplined attacking play and a well-organised defence.
Oman Club quickly built a comfortable advantage and went into the half-time break leading 20-4. The hosts maintained their intensity after the restart, continuing to create scoring opportunities while keeping Saham under pressure defensively.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Oman Club gradually extending their advantage before completing a convincing 36-9 victory. The result gave the hosts an ideal start to their league campaign and two valuable points in the standings.
At the same venue, Al Amerat also began their campaign on a positive note, defeating Al Ittihad 26-13. Al Amerat displayed greater control throughout the match and managed the game effectively to secure a 13-goal victory and claim their first two points of the season.
The Youth Indoor Handball League features 10 clubs this season, divided into two groups of five. Group A consists of Muscat, Oman Club, Al Orouba, Al Khabourah and Saham, while Group B includes Seeb, Nizwa, Al Amerat, Al Ittihad and Masirah.

The preliminary stage will be played in a single round-robin format, with teams accumulating points from their matches. The top two teams from each group will advance to the second round.
In the second round, the Group A winners will face the Group B runners-up over two matches, while the Group B winners will meet the Group A runners-up in another two-match series. The winners of the two ties will advance to the final to determine the league champions, while the losing teams will meet in a third-place play-off.
If the teams are level on points and goal difference after the two matches of a second-round tie, the winner will be decided immediately through a penalty shootout, with no extra time played.
The new season is expected to provide an important platform for young players to gain competitive experience and develop their technical and tactical abilities as the clubs compete for the league title.
