Al Dakhiliyah students receive literary awards

NIZWA: The Omani Society for Writers and Authors, in cooperation with the Directorate-General of Education in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, honoured the winners of its Literary Creativity Award for school students for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The ceremony was held at the Nizwa Cultural Centre under the auspices of Shaikh Mahmoud bin Rashid al Saadi, Wali of Nizwa.
A total of 442 students participated in the award, competing in poetry recitation, speaking in classical Arabic, short-story writing, literary analysis and classical Arabic poetry.
The competition covered three age groups and aimed to identify literary talents in schools across the governorate while developing students’ abilities in Arabic language and literature.
Ahmed bin Marhoon al Busaidi, head of the Omani Society for Writers and Authors’ branch in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, said the award provides students with an opportunity to express their ideas and develop their literary abilities while helping identify promising talents at an early age.
He stressed that cooperation between educational and cultural institutions plays an important role in guiding young talents and helping them develop their skills in writing, recitation and literary appreciation.
He also noted that the diversity of competition categories and age groups encourages students to participate according to their interests and abilities. He highlighted the role of teachers in following students’ work and providing feedback to help them improve their literary output and maintain an interest in reading and writing.
In poetry recitation for grades 1-5, Mohammed bin Yousef al Hinai of Al Tumooh School won first place, followed by Zahra bint Said al Maharbi of Al Shamail School in second and Aseel bint Said al Saadi of Seih Al Barakat School in third.
For grades 6-9, Osama bin Salim al Gharibi of Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Kindi School for Boys won first place in poetry recitation, with Zuwaina bint Abdulhakim al Rahbi of Surur School for Girls second and Wad bint Salem al Toubi of Umm Ayman School for Girls third.
In the classical Arabic speaking category for the same age group, Adnan bin Saif al Fahdi of Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Kindi School for Boys won first place, followed by Shatha bint Said al Hinai of Wadi Qaryat School and Fatima bint Saddam al Sharqi of Tanouf School.
In the short-story category for grades 6-9, Mira bint Bader al Rahbi of Surur School for Girls won first place. Naseeba bint Nasser bin Zaher al Abri of Fatima bint Al Khattab School for Girls came second, while Maher bin Ahmed al Hajji of Shaikh Mohammed bin Masoud Al Busaidi School for Boys took third.
In literary analysis of poetry for grades 10-12, Walaa bint Abdullah al Busaidi of Shaikha Nadhira Al Riyami School won first place, followed by Tasneem bint Mohammed al Shueili in second and Sarah bint Ali al Shueili in third.
In the short-story category for the same age group, Raghad bint Rashid al Mahrazi of Umm Qais Al Asadiya School for Girls won first place, followed by Mohammed bin Amer al Awaimri of Abu Zaid Al Riyami School for Boys in second and Maryam bint Sulaiman al Shueili of Al Mamour School for Girls in third.
In the classical Arabic poetry writing category for grades 10-12, Abrar bint Mubarak al Abdali of Shaikha Nadhira Al Riyami School won first place. Abdulaziz bin Saud al Busaidi of Malik bin Fahm School for Boys came second, while Al Jalanda bin Abdulaziz al Busaidi of the same school took third. — ONA
