CAIRO: The Environment Authority on thursday took part in the 37th Ministerial Meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment.
Held at the Secretariat General of the League of Arab States (Arab League) in Cairo, the meeting coincided with the conclusion of the 5th Arab Environment Forum 2026, convened under the theme “Rangeland sustainability for the realization of enhanced resilience.”
Oman’s delegation at the meeting was led by Dr Abdullah bin Ali al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority. During this high-level ministerial session, Dr. Abdullah stressed the need to integrate rangelands protection into national policies.
Oman’s participation in the ministerial meeting and the Arab Environment Forum stems from a keenness to consolidate Arab cooperation, exchange expertise and experiences and discuss priority environmental issues, with the overall objective of protecting ecosystems and enhancing their resilience against climate change, drought and degradation of lands.
Dr. Abdullah also participated in a high-level panel discussion titled “From Vulnerability to Resilience: Investing in Rangeland Restoration and Financing the Transition.” The session focused on shifting from merely managing rangeland crises to investing in their sustainability and bolstering their resilience against climate-driven degradation and drought. - ONA
