Lobster fishing season begins in Oman

Muscat: Lobster fishing season officially began in Oman on Thursday and will continue until November 30, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR) said.

The ministry said the season runs from October 1 to November 30, 2026, and called on fishermen to comply with the regulations governing lobster fishing.

Only approved lobster traps (cages) are permitted for catching lobster during the season, the ministry said.

The regulations are aimed at protecting lobster stocks, supporting sustainable fishing practices and preserving marine and coastal ecosystems.
