Sultan Qaboos Quran contest qualifiers begin

AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: The Preliminary Qualifying Committee of the Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Competition, in its 34th edition, supervised by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court, commenced its work in the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah.
Rashid bin Hamid al Dughaishi, Chairman of both the Preliminary and Final Qualifying Committees of the edition of the competition, stated in a remark to ONA that the qualifiers, held at the hall of the Office of the Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar, saw the participation of 27 male and female contestants.
He explained that the participants compete across seven levels, comprising memorisation of the Holy Quran in its entirety, and memorisation of 24 consecutive parts, 18 consecutive parts, 12 consecutive parts, in addition to memorisation of 6 parts, 4 parts and 2 consecutive parts, with age requirements stipulated for levels four through seven.
He noted that the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science at the Diwan of Royal Court has added, in the 34th edition, two new centres for the preliminary qualifiers in the wilayats of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar and Dima W'attayeen, bringing the total number of preliminary qualifying centres across the various wilayats of Oman to 28. - ONA
