SPF advances monthly allowances project for scholarship students

Muscat:  The Social Protection Fund affirmed that registration for the monthly allowances service for students under the internal scholarship system covers all students, whether current students enrolled in private universities and colleges within the Sultanate of Oman, including those currently receiving monthly allowances, or new students whose data is available with their educational institutions.

The Fund explained in a statement that everyone is required to complete registration procedures through the electronic service. It noted that the importance of registration stems from the need to update and unify beneficiary data, verify their eligibility in accordance with the approved criteria, and link their personal, educational, and bank account data within an integrated electronic system, thereby enhancing the accuracy of eligibility and disbursement procedures and streamlining procedures for the student.

It stated that a current student's receipt of the allowance during the previous period does not obviate the need for registration, as this step constitutes an essential part of updating data and verifying continued fulfillment of eligibility conditions. Meanwhile, registration by new students enables the completion of verification procedures and the inclusion of eligible students among them in disbursement procedures.

The project embodies a model of institutional integration, with the Social Protection Fund working in coordination with the Ministry of Education, the National Records Centre of the Royal Oman Police, and relevant entities, leveraging electronic linkage to verify the data necessary to determine eligibility. This integration reflects a trend toward building a more interconnected and efficient system in which the relevant entities exchange the necessary data within approved frameworks, thereby reducing the procedures borne by the beneficiary and enhancing the accuracy and speed of service delivery.

The project thus affirms the importance of institutional partnership in serving the community, as reaching and supporting the student is not tied to a single entity, but rather to a system in which roles are integrated to serve the beneficiary and facilitate access to entitlements.

Within the framework of developing the beneficiary experience, the Fund has made registration for the monthly allowances service available electronically, without the need to visit the Fund's offices, as the student can complete registration procedures from their location and at a time that suits them.

Eligibility for monthly allowances is based on a set of approved criteria that consider the social and economic circumstances of the family, in addition to the distance between the student's place of residence and the educational institution.

These criteria aim to direct allowances to eligible students according to clear and unified foundations, thereby enhancing fairness in eligibility and accommodating differences in circumstances among students and their families. The electronic system also enables automatic verification of the student's data and fulfillment of conditions, thereby enhancing clarity in eligibility procedures and enabling the student to know the outcome of their application.

The monthly allowances project for internal scholarship students represents one of the pathways through which social protection integrates with education and empowerment. Supporting the eligible student contributes to alleviating part of the burdens associated with continuing education and enhances their ability to persevere in their educational journey. The project also reflects a broader concept of social protection based on supporting the individual at various stages of life and enhancing their capacity to continue, participate, and be empowered, with its impact extending to the family and the community.

The Social Protection Fund, in cooperation with its partners, continues to develop working mechanisms and improve verification and disbursement procedures, thereby enhancing institutional integration and community partnership, placing the beneficiary at the heart of the service, and employing digital solutions to facilitate access to entitlements.

The Fund called upon all internal scholarship students, both current and new, to complete electronic registration, verify the accuracy of their personal and educational data, ensure that their phone number is linked to their civil number, and that an activated bank account is available to complete the application procedures.
