Oman's advance calendar gives you more time to plan holidays

Muscat: After months of scathing summer, which restricted outdoor activities, all focus now on the next long weekend - National Day holidays, which is expected to coincide with substantial drop in temperatures for camping, trekking and other beach going.

As announced by the Ministry of Labour based on the national and religious holiday calendar for 2026, the Sultanate of Oman’s National Day holidays will be on November 25 and 26.

The holiday, which falls on Wednesday and Thursday, will give employees in the public and private sectors a two-day break to mark the national occasion.

The dates are part of the government’s policy of announcing national and religious holidays in advance at the beginning of each Gregorian year, allowing public and private-sector institutions to plan their work schedules, programmes and events.

The advance announcement also helps avoid scheduling conflicts between holidays and local and international events.

Earlier this year, Sultan’s Accession Day was observed on January 15, while the religious occasions listed in the 2026 calendar included Al Isra’ wal Mi’raj on January 18, the New Hijri Year on June 18 and the Prophet’s Birthday (PBUH) on August 27.

The dates of Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha are announced separately in accordance with the declarations of the Main Committee for the Sighting of the Hijri Month Crescents.
