ROHM opens its 15th anniversary season

Muscat:  The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is welcoming audiences to the opening month of its fifteenth anniversary season this October, with an exciting programme that brings together great opera, world-renowned artists, Arabic musical heritage and the golden age of jazz.

The season opens in spectacular fashion with Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto on October 1 and October 3, in Franco Zeffirelli’s celebrated final operatic production. With an international cast and leading Italian orchestras under conductor Evelino Pidò, the production marks a fitting start to the Royal Opera House Muscat’s milestone fifteenth season.

On Friday 2 October, acclaimed mezzo-soprano Elīna Garanča makes her Oman debut in a gala concert with the Orchestra Teatro Regio Torino, conducted by Karel Mark Chichon, a major international highlight of the opening week.

The celebrations continue October 17, with a special concert marking Omani Women’s Day, bringing together the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra and Muscat Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Ladies’ Ensemble, with special guest Marwa Nagy.

On Sunday October 18, the much-loved Kulthumiyat returns, with Marwa Nagy and Yosra Mahnouch celebrating the timeless legacy of Umm Kulthum and the enduring power of Arabic tarab.

The month continues in swinging style on Ocotber 22 and 23 with The Golden Age of Jazz: The Voice is Back. Acclaimed vocalist Stephen Triffitt, celebrated for his leading role in the original West End production of The Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas, joins the New York Swing Orchestra with special guest Mark Adams for an evening of classic jazz, swing and timeless melodies from the Great American Songbook.

From Verdi to Umm Kulthum, from celebrated international voices to extraordinary orchestral and jazz artistry, October sets the tone for a fresh, vibrant and celebratory fifteenth anniversary season at the Royal Opera House Muscat.
