MUSCAT: The Royal Omani Amateur Radio Society (ROARS) is representing the Sultanate of Oman at the 27th General Conference of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Region 1, which is being held in Vienna, Austria, from September 19 to 23.
The Omani delegation is headed by ROARS Chairman Dr Saoud Al Shoaili and includes Khalid al Jardani. Oman is participating alongside amateur radio societies from across Europe, Africa and the Middle East, including several GCC countries.
The conference brings together 97 delegates from 39 IARU member societies to discuss technical, regulatory and organisational issues shaping the future of amateur radio.
Its agenda includes matters related to high-frequency and VHF communications, electromagnetic compatibility, youth participation and broader administrative and organisational issues affecting member societies.
ROARS said its participation provides an opportunity to contribute to discussions on developments affecting amateur radio operators, while strengthening coordination and the exchange of expertise with regional and international societies.
The Society also aims to expand cooperation with its counterparts and support the continued development of amateur radio activities and technical capabilities in the Sultanate of Oman.
The Vienna meeting forms part of ROARS’ wider engagement with the IARU and international amateur radio organisations.
