Nine clubs compete for Oman Women’s Futsal League crown

Muscat: The 2026-27 Oman Women’s Futsal League gets under way on Sunday with two Group One fixtures at the auxiliary hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
Al Shabab face Salalah at 4 pm in the season opener before Al Amerat take on Qurayat at 7 pm. Group Two begins at the same venue on Monday, when Fanja meet Masirah at 4 pm and Saham play Al Bashayer at 7 pm.
Nine clubs are taking part in the competition, organised by the Oman Football Association (OFA). Group One comprises Al Shabab, Salalah, Al Amerat, Qurayat and Sohar, while Group Two features Fanja, Al Bashayer, Masirah and Saham.
The opening stage will be contested as a single round-robin within each group. The top three sides from Group One and the leading two from Group Two will advance to the five-team championship stage.

The qualifiers will then compete in a double round-robin, with each club playing its rivals twice. The team finishing with the highest points total will be crowned league champion.
The four clubs that do not qualify will enter classification play-offs to determine positions six to nine. The fourth-placed team in Group One will meet the third-placed side in Group Two for sixth and seventh places, while Group Two’s fourth-placed team will face the fifth-placed side from Group One to decide eighth and ninth. A draw at the end of regulation time will be settled directly by a penalty shoot-out.
Teams receive three points for a win and one for a draw. If clubs finish level, the regulations apply head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference and goals scored, followed by overall goal difference and total goals. Fair-play records are considered next, with the lower disciplinary-points total taking precedence, before lots are drawn if the tie remains unresolved.

MEDALS AND PRIZE MONEY
The champions will receive RO 5,000, the league shield and 25 gold medals, while the runners-up will collect RO 3,000 and 25 silver medals. The third-placed team will receive RO 2,000 and 25 bronze medals.
Hajar al Muzaini, OFA board member and Chairwoman of the Women’s Committee, said domestic competitions provide a sustained competitive environment for identifying talent and developing players technically, physically and mentally. She added that the league also gives national-team staff an important platform to monitor and assess players across age groups.
Preparations for the season included workshops for female team administrators, match commissioners and referees, as the OFA seeks to strengthen national expertise alongside the growth of the women’s game.
