Al Rawahi clinches fifth round honours of Jordan National Rally

Muscat: Omani rally star Abdullah al Rawahi claimed the honours in the fifth round of the 2026 Jordan National Rally held at the Dead Sea region on Friday.
Al Rawahi alongside his Jordanian co-driver Atta al Hamoud in Škoda Fabia R5 retained their trophy they won last year.
Jordanian driver Shaker Juwaihan and his compatriot co-driver Mustafa Juma, driving a Mitsubishi Evo 10, came in second place. Jordanian driver Sheikh Bader al Fayez and his Lebanese co-driver Joseph Matar, also driving a Skoda Fabia RS, finished third.
The rally was organised by the Jordan Motorsport Federation and sponsored by Zain Jordan.
The total rally distance was 266.98 km, including 86.74 km of special stages on a gravel track, divided into six stages: Panorama 1 & 2, Suweima 1 & 2, and Shuna 1 & 2.
Nineteen drivers and co-drivers from Jordan, Oman, Palestine, and Lebanon registered to participate in the rally.
Al Rawahi led all six stages of the rally by a comfortable margin thanks to his fault-less performance in the Dead Sea region, where temperatures were extremely high due to the nature of the terrain at the Dead Sea — the lowest point on Earth.
Abdullah, who drove a Škoda Fabia R5, said after the rally: 'The fifth round of the rally was difficult for everyone due to the high temperatures and that the rally was somewhat long.'
He added that his primary goal and focus were to improve the car’s performance, test the car on the same stages that hosted the Jordan International Rally at different speeds, and minimise the mistakes he made in this year’s international rally.
He said: 'Thanks to God for today’s victory — our second in a row. I thank everyone here for their cooperation in making the rally a success, and I thank our supporters for standing behind us in every event. We are now working on our plans for upcoming events and hope to compete in the Cyprus International Rally next month.”

THROUGH THE STAGES
The first stage (Panorama 1), covering 16.95 km, saw Oman’s Abdullah al Rawahi and his Jordanian co-driver Atta al Hamoud take the lead in a Skoda Fabia RS with a time of 11:39.0 minutes.
Jordanian driver Shaker Juwaihan and his compatriot co-driver Mustafa Jumaa, driving a Mitsubishi Evo 10, finished second in 12:31.0 minutes. Jordan’s Sheikh Bader al Fayez and his Lebanese co-driver Joseph Matar, also driving a Skoda Fabia RS, came in third (12:52.4).
In the second stage (Suwayma 1), with a distance of 11.21 km, Abdullah al Rawahi and his navigator Atta al Hamoud continued to lead, after completing the stage in 5:48.9 minutes.
Sheikh Badr al Fayez and his navigator Joseph Matar advanced to second place with a time of 6:22.0 minutes, while Shaker Juwaihan and his navigator Mustafa Juma dropped to third place with a time of 6:24.2 minutes.
In the third stage (Al Shuna 1), which was 15.3 km long, Al Rawahi and Al Hamoud maintained their lead in the stage, achieving a time of 13:20.6 minutes.
Shaker Juhaian and his navigator Mustafa Jumaa advanced to second place with a time of 14:13.9 minutes, while Sheikh Bader al Fayez and his navigator Joseph Matar came in third with a time of 14:27.3 minutes.
Stage Four (Panorama 2), covering a distance of 16.95 km, saw Abdullah and Atta al Hamoud maintain their lead, achieving a time of 11:37.1 minutes. Shaker Juwaihan and Mustafa Jumaa held onto second place with a time of 12:33.5 minutes. Sheikh Bader and Matar remained in third place with a time of 13:09.8 minutes.
In the fifth stage (Suwayma 2), which covered a distance of 11.21 km, Abdullah al Rawahi and Atta al Hamoud maintained their lead in the rally, achieving a time of 5:48.7 minutes.
Sheikh Bader and Matar advanced to second place with a time of 6:39.4 minutes, while Issa Abu Jammous and Dawood Abu Jammous moved into third place with a time of 6:57.8 minutes.
In the final sixth stage (Al Shuna 2), covering 15.3 km, Abdullah al Rawahi and Atta al Hamoud continued form to came top in 13.05.2 minutes.
Shaker Juwaihan and Mustafa Jumaa moved up to second with a time of 14:23.4 minutes, while Sheikh Bader and his Joseph Matar dropped to third place with a time of 14:26.4 minutes.
Jordanian driver Farah Zakaria and her Lebanese navigator Doline Chlink won the Women’s Cup at the rally.
