Muscat: The contractor who has been awarded the Muscat Expressway expansion project was given a notice to proceed with the work two weeks ago, according to Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) who has been quoted.
'We can expect to see the actual work on the ground in October or, at the latest, by November. A plan to avoid congestion, which includes traffic diversions and adjusting working hours, has been submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval.
A study is also underway on the possibility of adjusting the working hours of certain institutions, but it is not finalized and is therefore premature to discuss the exact details now.'
