Al Nasr claim top spot after Al Musannah victory

SALALAH: Al Nasr moved to the top of the Jindal League standings after securing a 2-0 victory over Al Musannah at Al Saada Sports Complex in Salalah on Saturday, in their rescheduled third-round match of the 2026-27 season.
The win lifted Al Nasr to nine points from three matches, maintaining their perfect start to the campaign, while Al Musannah remained near the bottom of the table after another difficult outing.
Al Nasr went into the match with clear attacking intent and enjoyed the better share of possession during the early stages, but Al Musannah also had their moments on the counter. The visitors nearly struck in the fifth minute when Hazza al Mushaifri tested Al Nasr goalkeeper Ibrahim al Rajhi with a dangerous effort, but the custodian reacted well to keep the score level.
Al Musannah threatened again in the 15th minute through Darwish al Saadi, whose attempt forced another important save from Al Rajhi, who turned the ball away for a corner. Those early chances gave Al Musannah confidence, but Al Nasr gradually regained control and began to use the spaces on transition.

The breakthrough arrived in the 25th minute. Mohammed Abdulhakeem Bait Sabee received the ball during a quick counter-attack, drove into the penalty area and finished past Al Musannah goalkeeper Al Mutasim al Balushi to give Al Nasr a 1-0 lead.
Both teams continued to exchange attacks for the remainder of the first half, but neither side managed to add to the score before the interval.
Al Musannah returned for the second half with greater urgency and came close to equalising in the 57th minute when Darwish al Saadi broke forward and struck at goal, only for Al Rajhi to produce another strong save. The visitors increased their pressure and threatened again in the 67th minute through Musab al Lamki, whose shot went over the crossbar.
Al Nasr almost doubled their lead in the 69th minute when foreign player Afando found space on the counter, but Al Mutasim al Balushi kept Al Musannah in the game with a fine stop. Two minutes later, Al Musannah wasted one of their best chances as substitute Abdulaziz al Manwari broke through, but his effort went wide.
Al Nasr also came close in the 78th minute when substitute Osama Magdy hit the post with a powerful attempt. The decisive second goal eventually came in the 90th minute, as Awadh al Shahri finished off a pass from Osama Magdy to seal the victory.
Al Musannah tried to reduce the deficit in stoppage time, but Al Nasr managed the closing moments well to complete a clean-sheet win and strengthen their position at the top of the league.
