Al Shabab stun Oman Club as Bahla fight back against Sur

MUSCAT: Al Shabab revived their Jindal League campaign with a valuable 2-0 win over Oman Club at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher on Friday, while Bahla came from behind to beat Sur 3-1 and Dhofar collected their first point in a goalless draw away to Sohar. The scheduled meeting between Al Nasr and Al Musannah in Salalah was postponed due to an electrical fault at Al Saada Sports Complex.
The results added more movement to the early standings after three rounds. Al Shabab moved to six points, level with Oman Club, who suffered their first defeat after two wins. Sohar advanced to five points, Dhofar finally opened their account, and Bahla picked up their first victory after back-to-back defeats.

At Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex, Al Shabab made a perfect start against Oman Club. In the second minute, Musab al Mamari delivered a precise cross into the area and Croatian forward Marko rose well to head the ball into the net, giving Al Shabab an early 1-0 lead.
Oman Club tried to respond through Joel Mozefiko, whose free-kick in the 12th minute was handled by goalkeeper Majdi al Ajmi. The Muscat side created further chances through Ammar al Shiyadi, Al Harith al Mukhaini and Abdulaziz al Shaqsi, but Al Shabab’s defence stayed organised.
Oman Club pushed harder after the break and nearly levelled in the 49th minute when Mozefiko’s effort struck the crossbar. Al Shabab then punished that miss in the 56th minute as defender Khalid al Buraiki headed in from a corner to double the lead. Oman Club continued to threaten, but Majdi al Ajmi produced key saves late on to secure the clean sheet.

At Sohar Sports Complex, Sohar and Dhofar shared the points after a 0-0 draw. Dhofar were the better side for spells of the first half and came close through Abu Kamara, whose effort hit the post after another chance had been cleared by Algerian defender Mohammed Ihab.
Sohar improved after the interval and created opportunities through Abdullah al Maqbali and Ibrahim al Raqadi, but neither side could find the finishing touch. Sohar ended the match with 10 players after Rashid al Hosni was sent off in stoppage time.

BAHLA BEAT SUR
At Sur Sports Complex, Bahla produced a strong second-half response to defeat Sur 3-1. Sur went ahead in the 17th minute through Ayser al Alawi, but Bahla returned with greater purpose after the interval. Mohammed al Omairi equalised in the 53rd minute before Jacques put Bahla ahead in the 61st minute. Substitute Abdulwahid al Hinai sealed the win in the 86th minute to hand Bahla three important points.
In Salalah, Al Nasr’s match against Al Musannah was called off after officials waited for nearly an hour while attempts were made to fix an electrical fault in parts of Al Saada Sports Complex. The Oman Football Association will announce a new date for the fixture.
