MoHT, Ironman to promote Oman tourism abroad

NICE: Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism (MoHT), met with Scott DeRue, CEO of Ironman Group, to discuss ways to benefit from the international promotional partnership and to promote the Experience Oman tourism promotion at global championships and events.
During the meeting, they reviewed the performance of the Experience Oman Ironman Pro Series and its reach in international markets, the race schedule, viewership metrics on digital streaming platforms, and the promotional value the series generates for partners.
Both sides focused on the quality of media, reaching target markets, and translating the brand’s global reach into tangible interest in the Sultanate of Oman that contributes to increased tourist visits and bookings. The Minister of Heritage and Tourism noted that the success of international partnerships is measured by their ability to achieve a promotional and economic impact and to reach new segments of the market.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the minister visited the participants’ village for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship, held in the French city of Nice. He reviewed the organisational experience accompanying the championship, including the village’s facilities, services, and interactive platforms designed for athletes, fans, and partners. He was briefed on the event’s organisational mechanisms, logistics, and media services.
The minister stressed that sports represent an influential global platform for showcasing the Sultanate of Oman’s tourism offerings, particularly in the areas of adventure tourism and outdoor activities. He explained that the Sultanate of Oman boasts diverse natural features, making it an ideal destination for hosting endurance sports. He expressed his aspiration to present the Sultanate of Oman to the world as a unique tourist destination that contributes to achieving growth objectives.
The visit comes as part of the ministry’s ongoing monitoring of its international promotional partnerships and its efforts to learn from global experiences in organising major sporting events. This will enhance the Sultanate of Oman’s position on the sports tourism map and improve the effectiveness of leveraging international events and partnerships to promote Oman as a tourist destination.
