“The expertise and contribution of the ICAI Muscat (Oman) Chapter have been highly useful for the financial experts of Muscat, and we believe that its continued support will significantly enhance the success of this initiative and contribute to the professional development of Omani finance leaders,” said Dr Abdullah bin Masoud al Harthi, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee at OCCI.

MUSCAT: Backed by the massive drive to empower Omani youth, an Indian technology company has offered to train 1,000 citizens to become entrepreneurs, giving them the capabilities needed to drive their own businesses.
Speaking to the Observer on the sidelines of the Oman-India Business Forum, Noushad M K, Founder and CEO of KenPrimo, a digital marketing and technology solutions agency based in India, which specialises in helping businesses build and improve their online presence, said that the company has plans to identify, develop and enable 1,000 startups and entrepreneurial ventures in Oman over the next three years.
'We are targeting building entrepreneurs and creating enterprises in order for them to take part in Oman’s future-building exercise, aiming at building a connected platform where aspiring entrepreneurs can move from idea to enterprise, and from enterprise to scale,' he said.
The initiative envisages bringing together the different elements required for entrepreneurship, such as talent, ideas, mentors, technology, incubation, investment, corporates, government institutions and markets, into one collaborative ecosystem, rather than creating another standalone programme.
This concept is based on the national economic transformation under Oman Vision 2040, with strong emphasis on economic diversification, innovation, technology, knowledge, private-sector development and entrepreneurship.
'The country already has entrepreneurs, startups, government programmes, incubators, investors and institutions supporting SMEs. The opportunity now is to connect these strengths, increase participation, accelerate entrepreneurial journeys and create more scalable businesses.'
The idea, which is currently in the final stages, aims at making entrepreneurship an attractive career and economic opportunity for the next generation of Omanis.
The initiative will work across the complete entrepreneurial journey, from inspire to ideate and from incubate to build, fund, market and scale.
This mission directly supports the broader aspirations of Oman Vision 2040 — particularly building a diversified and sustainable economy driven by technology, knowledge and innovation, strengthening the private sector, developing national capabilities and creating new economic and employment opportunities.
This new training programme follows the recent Omani CFO Mentoring Programme by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI Muscat) in association with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) where six batches of the Omani CFOs were given intensive training as part of the programme across different regions of the Sultanate of Oman over the past couple of years. The OCCI is currently facilitating the 7th Batch of the Omani CFO Mentoring Programme in Muscat, a professional development initiative aimed at enhancing the knowledge, leadership, and strategic capabilities of Omani finance professionals
