Cultural heritage showcased at Embassies Festival in Netherlands

THE HAGUE: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by its embassy in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, participated in the Embassies Festival, presenting a diverse programme of cultural activities that began on September 3 and aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and cultural ties between the two friendly countries.
The embassy launched its programme with a cultural evening held at the residence of the Head of Mission, attended by a number of ambassadors, government officials and representatives of Dutch companies.
Dr Shaikh Abdullah bin Salem al Harthi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, delivered a speech highlighting the depth of Omani-Dutch relations. He noted that the gathering sought to promote the values of peace, communication and mutual understanding.
The evening featured presentations of poetry and visual arts, along with traditional music and Omani folklore, offering guests an insight into Oman’s rich cultural heritage.
The Omani pavilion attracted a large number of visitors during the festival, which drew around 70,000 people.
During his visit to the Omani pavilion, Jan van Zanen, Mayor of The Hague and patron of the event, praised Oman’s participation and its role in showcasing the ancient history and cultural values.
The Hague Municipal Theatre also hosted a programme featuring traditional Omani arts and folkloric performances, attended by thousands of spectators.
The cultural programme was further complemented by the embassy’s participation in an event at Dam Square in Amsterdam, where Omani performers presented traditional music, while Omani visual artists showcased a selection of their works.
The participation highlighted Oman’s cultural heritage and contributed to strengthening people-to-people and cultural ties between Oman and the Netherlands. - ONA
