Jindal High-Performance Centre for Hockey Oman launched

Hockey Oman and Jindal Steel have officially launched the 'Jindal High-Performance Centre for Hockey Oman', a comprehensive two-year high-performance development programme aimed at strengthening the performance, preparation and long-term development of hockey in the Sultanate of Oman.
The signing ceremony was held at the Hockey Oman venue in Al Amerat on Wednesday and was attended by senior representatives of Hockey Oman and Jindal Steel, along with the President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Dato’ Tayyab Ikram, who made a special visit to Oman to attend the ceremony and support this important initiative.
The launch of the Jindal High-Performance Centre for Hockey Oman represents a significant step forward in Hockey Oman’s commitment to establish a sustainable, structured and internationally aligned high-performance system, creating an environment in which players, coaches and support staff can develop and perform at the highest level.
FIH CHIEF ASSURES STRONG SUPPORT
The presence of the FIH President at the signing ceremony underlined the international significance of the initiative and its potential contribution to the development of hockey in Oman and across the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, the FIH chief expressed his great pleasure at witnessing the launch of the Jindal High-Performance Centre, describing it as a significant step towards the further development of hockey in Oman and the wider region.
Ikram also reaffirmed the International Hockey Federation’s support to the programme as the initiative develops.
The FIH’s support will further strengthen the centre’s ambition to adopt international best practices in athlete development, coaching, performance preparation and high-performance management.
The programme represents a significant step forward in Hockey Oman’s commitment to building a sustainable high-performance system and creating an environment in which players, coaches and support staff can develop to international standards.
STRUCTURED PROGRAMME
The Jindal High-Performance Centre for Hockey Oman will focus on the development of Oman’s national teams and emerging players through a structured and scientifically supported performance programme. The initiative will bring together technical coaching, physical preparation, sports science, performance analysis, athlete monitoring, injury prevention and other key components of modern high-performance sport.
Through the programme, Hockey Oman aims to establish a professional and sustainable pathway for talented players to progress from the development level to national and international competition.
The centre will also support the implementation of individual performance plans, allowing players to receive more targeted and measurable development based on their specific needs and performance objectives.
NEW CHAPTER FOR HOCKEY IN OMAN
Dr Marwan bin Juma al Juma, Chairman of Hockey Oman, said: “The establishment of the Jindal High-Performance Centre marks an important new chapter for hockey in Oman. High performance is not achieved through short-term preparation; it requires a long-term vision, a structured system, investment in people and a professional approach to athlete development.
“This two-year programme will allow us to strengthen the foundations of our national teams and provide our players with a more comprehensive high-performance environment. It will also contribute to the development of our coaches and support staff and create a clearer pathway for the next generation of Omani hockey players.
