Oman to launch self-driving vehicles in 2027; trials successful

Salalah Airport witnessed an operational trial of a self-driving (autonomous) electric vehicle in the presence of Said bin Hamoud al Maawali, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, and officials from Oman Airports.
Following the success of the trials, such vehicles will be launched for Operations in 2027.
Oman Airports said that it aims to adopt smart and sustainable mobility solutions and explore modern technologies and their potential applications in the airport environment.
The objectives of these self-driving vehicles are to enhance the efficiency of delivery operations, improve the speed and reliability of services, reduce operating costs and emissions, and strengthen the Sultanate of Oman's position as an attractive environment for testing and deploying smart and sustainable transport technologies.
