64th Arab Towns Organisation Executive Council meeting held in Dhofar

Salalah : The 64th meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Towns Organisation was held on Monday at Rotana Salalah Resort in Dhofar Governorate, ahead of the organisation’s 20th General Conference, which opens on Tuesday under the theme “More Innovative and Sustainable Cities.”
The Arab Towns Organisation seeks to improve the performance of Arab cities and promote balanced urban growth while preserving natural resources and the architectural and cultural character of cities. Its objectives also include strengthening cities’ preparedness to address emerging challenges, safeguarding cultural heritage, supporting cultural activities and examining urban challenges and proposing appropriate solutions.
During the Executive Council meeting, participants discussed the development of the organisation and its affiliated institutions, as well as ways to strengthen their role in supporting Arab cities.
Discussions also covered smart cities, the digital environment and cybersecurity as key elements of a secure urban future, alongside the future of sustainable urban mobility across Arab cities.
The 20th General Conference of the Arab Towns Organisation will open on Tuesday at the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.
Organised by Dhofar Municipality in cooperation with the Arab Towns Organisation, the conference will bring together participants from 22 Arab countries under the patronage of HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar.
The conference aims to promote the exchange of expertise and cooperation in advancing sustainable development, while addressing urban development, the digital transformation of cities and the challenges facing Arab urban centres.
