ICRC CHIEF VISITS MSC

MUSCAT: Pierre Krähenbühl, Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, on Sunday visited the Maritime Security Centre (MSC), where he was received upon his arrival at the centre's headquarters by the Acting Head of the Maritime Security Centre.
The Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross and his accompanying delegation received a briefing on the centre's roles and various efforts related to preserving the safety of the marine environment in territorial waters. The guest also toured the Maritime Security Centre and viewed its facilities, including the modern technologies and systems it contains.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthi, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, also received Pierre Krähenbühl, Director-General of the ICRC.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed developments in the political and humanitarian situation in the region, and exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
They also discussed areas of cooperation and exchanged expertise, in addition to reviewing ways to enhance partnership and coordination between the two sides. - ONA
