ESG awards open for entries

As Sultanate of Oman continues to advance its sustainability and Net Zero ambitions, the Oman Sustainability Week (OSW) Awards will return for its sixth edition to celebrate organizations that are setting new benchmarks through innovation, social responsibility, and measurable action.
Held as part of Oman Sustainability Week (OSW), the OSW Awards – ESG Category are co-organised by Oman Environmental Services Holding Company – be’ah, in partnership with the Center for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE), Chicago. The Expression of Interest (EOI) period will be open from 1 September 2026 to 19 November 2026.
The OSW Awards recognizes organizations demonstrating strong Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks, initiatives and tangible achievements. The prestigious recognition platform celebrates organizations that are advancing ESG practices, delivering meaningful impact, and demonstrating ongoing commitment to sustainable and responsible business. By bringing together leaders from across government, business and academia, the awards will reinforce the importance of collective action in building a more sustainable, efficient and resilient future for the Sultanate of Oman. 
At the core of the Awards is the Oman Sustainability Index (OSI), which evaluates organizational performance across key environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles. Developed in alignment with the internationally recognized Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, and in collaboration with CSE, the OSI provides organizations with a structured framework to benchmark their sustainability performance, strengthen transparency and accountability, and align their practices with Oman’s national priorities and global sustainability objectives. 
Since its inception, the Awards have grown into a leading platform for recognising and advancing sustainability excellence in Oman, with participation reflecting the increasing focus on sustainability performance across business, government and academia. The number of finalists in the ESG category has grown from 11 in 2022 to 48 in 2026, a 336% increase, with the 2026 finalists comprising 29 medium-to-large businesses, 9 small businesses, 7 academic institutions and 3 government entities. This growing and diverse participation demonstrates the increasing value organisations place on benchmarking their progress, showcasing impactful initiatives, sharing best practices and identifying opportunities to further advance their sustainability objectives.

The ESG Category recognises organisations across the four sub-categories: Government, Academia, Small Businesses, and Medium to Large Businesses. The category aims to highlight organisations that are embedding sustainability into their governance, operations, stakeholder engagement and long-term strategies, and how this is reflected in their performance and organizational impact.
The Awards provide organisations with an opportunity to assess their sustainability and identify strengths and areas for improvement. Through the assessment process, participants also receive valuable feedback from the Centre for Sustainability & Excellence (CSE), including practical feedback and recommendations to support performance improvement and strengthen their sustainability practices.
The OSW Awards 2027 will follow a structured and transparent submission process, beginning with the Call for Expression of Interest opening on 1 September 2026, and closing on 19 November 2026. A virtual Submission Training Day will be held on 7 December 2026 to guide organisations who have expressed interest through the submission requirements, followed by the opening of the actual submissions on 10 December 2026. Submissions will remain open until 11 February 2027, after which entries will undergo the evaluation process. The OSW Awards recognition ceremony will take place on 25 April 2027, with submission reports to be issued in June 2027, providing participants with further insights into their submissions and performance.
