Nürburgring return for Ahmad at GTWCE penultimate race

Nürburgring, Germany: Following a break from motor racing action of two months, successful GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup driver Ahmad al Harthi is refreshed and determined to mount a bid for healthy championship points when round four of the season is held in Germany on Sunday.
The penultimate event of the 2026 GTWCE campaign will be hosted this coming weekend, August 29-30, at Nürburgring Grand Prix Circuit where Al Harthi, Calan Williams and Javier Sagrera will be targeting a strong fightback after an unfortunate retirement from the 24 Hours of Spa in late July.
Marking the Omani’s first visit to the Nürburgring since 2024, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO racer is hopeful of a return to the highly competitive podium battle in the Bronze Cup and especially so at the ‘home’ track of the Bavarian manufacturer – this season marking the Omani’s third racing with BMW power.
Starting off the GTWCE Endurance season with a strong top six Bronze Cup result at Circuit Paul Ricard in France in April, a six-hour into the night race, Al Harthi, Williams and Sagrera charged to a fantastic third place finish in the three-hour Monza race in Italy at the end of May.
Securing the first podium result for the new Oman Racing by Century Motorsport collaboration, the three team-mates stormed from eighth on the grid in the Bronze Cup and 47th overall to climb into third in Bronze and just outside the outright top 10.
Combining great teamwork, consistency, speed and reliability, Al Harthi proudly flew the Omani flag on the podium and he would dearly love to do so again at the weekend when he faces the challenge of the famous 5.1km, 15-corner Nürburgring.

That same teamwork was very much in evidence last time out during the category’s flagship race, the Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa. Damage sustained on lap one left a mountain to climb, but a star fightback was delivered by Ahmad, Williams, Sagrera and fourth driver Pedro Ebrahim. More contact in the second half of the contest, though, meant retirement – ending another podium bid.
With prestigious support, as ever, from his chief partners OQ, Omantel, Oman LNG, Oman Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and BMW Oman, double Endurance Cup Pro-Am Champion Ahmad is aiming high for this Sunday’s race and determined to climb back up the championship table.

“It’s been a long break of a couple of months since we were last in action at Spa, but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes and focusing on delivering the best car and set-up we can for this weekend’s action. I’m delighted to be back in Germany again, Nürburgring is a special place and a track that is, of course, very important for BMW.
“Spa was disappointing, but the effort and performance the whole team produced was incredible and we can all be proud of the teamwork we delivered. Hopefully we can be back challenging for the podium and pull some points back in the championship. One thing is for sure, we’ll be working as hard as we can and aiming to give everyone back home in Oman something to celebrate!”
Initial testing sessions at the Nürburgring will take place on August 28, with two further practice sessions on August 29 . Qualifying will take place from 09.45 local time on August 30, with the three-hour race beginning at 15.00 local time.
