Oman, China discuss human rights cooperation

MUSCAT: Prof Rashid bin Hamad al Balushi, Chairperson of the Oman Human Rights Commission, received Quan Yuan, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of China to Oman, and his accompanying delegation at the Commission’s headquarters.
The visit aimed to provide the Chinese delegation with a closer understanding of Oman’s experience in the field of human rights and the key features of the draft National Human Rights Strategy. The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange expertise and best practices in human rights.
During the meeting, the Chinese delegation presented China’s National Human Rights Action Plan (2026–2030), outlining its key objectives and priorities.
The two sides discussed ways to advance human rights efforts and strengthen mechanisms for cooperation and the exchange of expertise.
The meeting also addressed ways to further develop bilateral relations and enhance joint cooperation, while highlighting the role of the Oman Human Rights Commission in protecting and promoting human rights in Oman.
The discussions included an overview of Oman’s experience in consolidating human rights principles and translating them into practical measures, as well as opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two sides in the field.
