Muscat workshop discusses climate adaptation plan

MUSCAT: A workshop on the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) formulation project convened in Muscat to address the latest developments concerning climate change scenarios and their cross-sectoral implications.
Organised by the Environment Authority (EA) and spanning three days, the workshop brings together a broad spectrum of relevant stakeholders to examine national priorities and needs in the domain of climate adaptation.
The platform further enables participants to exchange views, expertise and proposals, thereby enriching the project's outputs and ensuring their alignment with sectoral requirements and overarching national priorities.

The workshop presents the key findings and deliverables generated thus far by the National Adaptation Plan project, while also identifying national priorities, challenges, gaps and needs pertaining to adaptation to the impacts of climate change.
The main objective is to foster active stakeholder participation and integration, support the final stages of developing a comprehensive national adaptation framework, and strengthen the capacity of sectors and communities to address current and future climate risks and impacts, thereby elevating overall preparedness and climate resilience.
It is noteworthy that this workshop is convened as part of the Environment Authority's ongoing efforts to enhance coordination and integration among national entities, advance sustainable development pathways, and stay abreast of evolving climate dynamics.
These efforts collectively contribute to reinforcing Oman's adaptive capacity to climate change effects while mitigating their adverse consequences across all sectors. — ONA
